(The) Tony Castles - Debut EP “No Service” out on 9/21.

One of the few perks I’ve been receiving since I’ve started writing this blog is that bands, band managers, and PR firms send me free music they’d like me to review.  Most of the music only gets a cursory listen…but every now and again someone sends me a slice of fried gold that I can’t put down…and this is the case with the new Tony Castles EP.  Five tracks with some diversity and some interesting composition that leaves me wanting more…and because I don’t have more I hit repeat.

For a band that hasn’t released any music up to this point (The) Tony Castles sure are getting plenty of attention.  They just recently finished a tour with Jamie Lidell and are wrapping up a tour with the one and only Tom Tom Club.  And if you don’t trust Jamie Lidell or the Tom Tom club…there is a vegan in Brooklyn that highly suggests you pick up this EP…and that vegan knows his NY music.

If you like what you’ve heard…I’d encourage you to check out some of their other tracks on the myspace…in particular…give “Adequate Sheen” a day in court.  I think you’ll be hearing that song in a commercial in the near future.

And on Tuesday…if you like what you’ve heard…consider picking up “No Service“.  It’s only $4.95 on the amazon link below.  You know you are going to give a homeless person a buck this week…and you’ll probably give an ATM machine 2 or 3.  Tell the bum to get a job…and take the extra drive to go to your actual bank and you will have almost saved up enough.
